Red Tails at Dawn

What a difference a few days can make. Most of the week was windy, I mean really windy at times complete with squalls and seas white with foam. Add in Full moon tides and some low pressure and Florida fishing seemed like a nail-biter reality show on the Discovery channel. We got soaked!
Friday morning however, arrived with a whole new attitude from both the weather and the fish. The westerly breeze, although steady, was considerably more courteous providing some welcome ventilation without the threat of annihilation. The sea state was just a bit wrinkly on the ride across the harbor but steamroller flat in the lee of the West wall of Mangroves. If anything moved, you would see it.
Tails began to appear and more than just a couple. At last, near perfect fly-casting conditions. Soon a suitable but sub-slot spot tail slurped a Schmendron. No pic; I released her at the gunwale plucking the fly with my rusty pliers, which I think would be a good handle for a country store, a country band, or a country dentist.
