Fishing Guide in North Point

The water at North Point changes character with the tide and the season. During the cooler months, the darker river water warms faster than the open harbor, pulling redfish and snook into the shallows along the mangrove edges and over the scattered grass patches. I pole clients through water that's often just knee-deep, sight-casting to tailing reds and laid-up snook that are feeding hard before the next cold front pushes through. The oyster bars here are textbook ambush points, and I've watched countless snook explode on flies worked along the drop-offs.

Summer turns North Point into a different fishery. Tarpon stage in the deeper channels during their migration, and we intercept them on the edges where they cruise looking for bait. Speckled trout move onto the grass flats in good numbers, especially early and late in the day when the water cools a bit. Jack crevalle show up in packs and will destroy anything you throw at them. The bite stays strong through fall when the bait returns in force and everything from pompano to black drum moves through the area feeding aggressively.

A charter out of North Point gives you access to variety. We might start on the flats targeting redfish, move to deeper structure for trout, and finish the day working mangrove cuts for snook. The mixing of fresh and salt water keeps baitfish concentrated, and predators follow. I run a flats boat that lets us cover water efficiently while still getting into the skinny stuff where the best sight-fishing happens. Every trip is different because this system is always moving, but that's exactly why I fish it as often as I do.
