Where We Fish

Fishing Guide in Peace River

The Peace River is one of Southwest Florida's most underrated fisheries. It's a beautiful, winding estuary that runs from the interior to Charlotte Harbor, and it fishes completely differently from the open water.

On the Water

Fishing Peace River

The Peace River is tidal for most of its length, meaning saltwater species like snook, redfish, and seatrout move far up the river. But it retains a brackish character that makes it unique. The current is gentler here, the mangroves are thicker, and the water color is darker. That darker water actually helps sight fishing because the fish are less spooky. On a Peace River charter, you're fishing a more intimate, riverine environment with cypress trees lining the banks and ospreys fishing alongside you.

Redfish are the star here. The Peace River holds a healthy population of slot reds that cruise the oyster bars and deep holes. Snook stack up in the river during the fall migration. The Peace River also sees fewer boats than Charlotte Harbor proper, so the fishing feels more remote and peaceful. The key is timing the tides, because the fish move with the water. I know the best spots to anchor and the tidal sequences that put fish on the bite.

Fishing Peace River FAQ

What's the best tide for Peace River fishing?
Moving water is best. The incoming tide pushes bait and fish onto the flats and oyster bars. I plan my charters around the tidal exchange.
Is the Peace River good for fly fishing?
Yes, the slower current and darker water make it ideal for presenting flies to redfish and snook.
How far up the Peace River do you fish?
It depends on the target species and conditions. We can fish the lower estuary near the harbor or run further upstream for a more remote experience.
