Fishing Guide in Pine Island Sound
Pine Island Sound is a different beast than the open harbor, and it's become one of my favorite places to take anglers on light tackle charters.
Fishing Pine Island Sound
This shallow, sprawling sound sits between Pine Island and the Florida mainland. The water is generally calmer and more protected than Charlotte Harbor proper, with vast seagrass flats, tidal creeks, and scattered oyster beds. Pine Island Sound fishes differently because it's so much shallower. That means sight fishing is a real possibility, especially for redfish and seatrout that you can literally watch cruising the flats.
The species mix here leans heavily toward redfish, seatrout, and snook. The sound doesn't get the massive tarpon runs that the harbor does, but the fishing is more consistent through the dog days of summer when the shallower water stays cooler. A Pine Island Sound charter is perfect for anyone who wants to fish with lighter tackle and actually see the fish they're chasing. The scenery is outstanding too, with unspoiled mangroves and the occasional manatee drifting by.
