Where We Fish

Fishing Guide in Port Charlotte

Port Charlotte sits just north of Punta Gorda on the east side of Charlotte Harbor, and it's a great starting point for charters targeting the upper harbor and the Peace River mouth.

On the Water

Fishing Port Charlotte

Port Charlotte offers similar access to Punta Gorda but with a different feel. The area around the Port Charlotte boat ramp puts you right at the confluence of the Peace River and Charlotte Harbor. From here, we can work the upper harbor flats, the deeper channels near the bridge, or head up the Peace River toward the more freshwater sections. The fishing pressure is lighter here than closer to the main harbor, which can make a difference on busy weekends.

The species are the same as the rest of the harbor system: tarpon, snook, redfish, and seatrout depending on the season. What changes is the character of the water. The Port Charlotte area tends to have more mix of shallow grass flats and deeper channels, giving us options regardless of the tide or weather. A charter launching from Port Charlotte is a good choice if you want to explore the upper harbor or focus on the Peace River without fighting the boat traffic near town.
