Where We Fish

Fishing Guide in Charlotte Harbor

Charlotte Harbor is the heart of Southwest Florida fishing, and it's where I spend most of my days on the water running charters.

On the Water

Fishing Charlotte Harbor

This big, brackish estuary covers over 400 square miles of protected Gulf waters. The harbor is shallow in places, with extensive seagrass beds, oyster bars, and miles of mangrove shoreline that hold fish year-round. What makes Charlotte Harbor special is the mix of saltwater and freshwater species that swim these waters together. On any given charter, we might catch tarpon rolling on the surface, snook lurking near the mangroves, redfish tailing in the shallows, or seatrout holding over the grass flats.

Spring through early summer is tarpon season. Those silver kings show up in big numbers and the fight is exactly what most anglers come here for. Snook fishing peaks in the fall when the weather cools and these warm-water fighters move back into the harbor. Redfish are reliable all fall and winter, and seatrout provide action even when other species are slower. A typical Charlotte Harbor charter covers good water fast, and I can adapt to whatever the bite is doing that day.
